I really enjoy watching nice shots, camera movements, interesting compositions mixed with special effects on movies, music videos, documentary films, tv shows, etc; and I´m sure I´m not the only one. Many of the shots posted here are definetly art ´n poetry in motion, thank you directors, producers, camera men, photographers and engineers that make them possible! If you know any info on how a shot was made (name techniques, tricks or equipment) or simply have an opinion about them, feel free to leave a comment.

Muchas de las tomas aqui posteadas o publicadas son definitivamente arte y poesia en movimiento, gracias a los directores, productores, camarógrafos, fotografos e ingenieros que las hacen posible! Nice track shot. It starts cold with the bowling lanes, but it ends with his cozy place on the back. On TV this scene looks brighter.
Buena toma de rieles. COmienza un poco fria con las líneas de boliches, pero termina con un lugar calido. En la TV esta escena se ve mas brillante (iluminada).
I like the low perspective of this shot, we can see more and more parts of this bizarre Iron Man while we get closer to him. Let´s thank Garrett Brown for inventing the steadicam!

I think that on the first part of the shot a Telescopic Jib Arm was used, then the special effects guy jointed it with the second part of the shot. It´s a nice transition from the inside of the room to the outside.
Creo que en la primera parte de la toma, se usó un grua Telescopic, despues el tipo encargado de los efectos especiales la unió con la segunda parte de la toma. Es una buena transicion desde el interior de la habitación al exterior de esta.
They probably used a helicopter for this shot because there are no difficulties (outdoors and no need to get close to he subject). On the other hand, they could have simply used a helicam because it´s cheaper. What do you think?
Tal vez usaron un helicoptero para esta toma debido a que no existen limitaciones en la locación (lugar abierto y no hay necesidad de acercarse al actor). Por otro lado, pudieron simplemente usar una helicam debido a que es mas económico su renta. Tu que crees?
It happens very quick but it´s a real piece of shot. I don´t know how they did it but the idea is great. Jason Bourne is followed by the camera while he jumps and gets into the room. They probably installed some kind of tracks up there and controlled the camera with a motor and monitor.
Sucede muy rápido pero es una gran toma. No se como la hicieron pero la idea es genial. Jason Bourne es seguido por la camara mientras da un salto hasta llegar a la habitación. Tal vez instalaron algun tipo de rieles y controlaron la camara con un motor y monitor.
Simple and great transition! I like the colors inspired by the monster movies of the 30´s, on this shot. Transición simple y genial! Me gustan los colores en este toma, inspirados por las películas de mounstruos de los años 30`s.
How do you call these kind of shots? Como se llaman este tipo de tomas?
It´s kind of funny to see fumes on the beginning of the shot. I wonder how big was that globe, I suppose it´s big because they zoomed in quite a lot and the details still look good (like mountains and rivers). It´s worth to appreciate the effort in the part when you can see the map and the route the people followed all the way to Casablanca, considering there were no computers to do this. Also, at the end, I wonder how they did that tilt from the tower to the market, because obviously there were no jib arms at the time.
Es algo gracioso ver el humo al principio de la toma. Me pregunto (y no me se responder) de que tamaño era ese globo terráqueo, me imagino que muy grande porque hacen el acercamiento y aun se pueden ver los detalles como las montañas y ríos. Vale la pena reconocer el esfuerzo en la parte donde se ve el mapa y el recorrido que hacia la gente para llegar a Casablanca, considerando que no había computadoras para hacer esto. Además, al final, me pregunto como hicieron ese tilt desde la torre hasta el mercado, porque obviamente no había grúas en ese entonces.
It´s always a good way to start the movie with a nice crane shot. I like the blue houses and the dark subject´s figure. His house is the only one that´s not completely blue, it has a yellow light and this is probably to give it a touch of a warm ambient. I also like the fact that he picks up a bike on his way to the door, this tells us in a way, that he is loving kinda dad. With all of these facts it´s easy to get surprised to know the kind of job and trouble he has been into.
Siempre es bueno comenzar una película con una buena toma de grúa. Me gustan las casas de color azul y que solo se vea la silueta oscura del personaje. Su casa es la única que no es completamente azul, tiene una luz amarilla y esto es probablemente para darle un toque de ambiente calido. También me gusta el hecho de que recoge una bicicleta mientras camina a la puerta, esto nos dice de alguna manera, que es un papá medio cariñoso. Con todos estos hechos es fácil verse sorprendido cuando nos enteramos que tipo de trabajo y problemas tiene este tipo.

It´s not only the subtle movement of the jib arm at the end that I like, but also the color of the shot and its composition; the papers, the fumes, the cars, very good. I was waiting to see the shot end with a good part of the sky on it, but I think the director of photography or the director wanted to give more relevance to the destruction left by the manifestation… just like happened on the life of the actress with the method Gronhelm.
Además del movimiento de la grúa tan sutil al final, de esta toma me gusta el color además de su composición; los papeles, el humo, los carros, muy buena. Estuve esperando que terminaran la toma con gran parte del cielo a la vista, pero creo que el director de fotografía o el director en si, querían darle relevancia a los destrozos que dejaron a su paso las manifestaciones… al igual que en la vida de la actriz con el método Gronhelm.
I was watching MTV with two of my friends that also like to see good shots and one of them said: “That´s a simple jib arm shot” but right at that moment the camera began to move until it was underneath Timberlake´s feet! My friend had to admit that that was no longer a simple jib arm shot. I´m sure a crane was used but I don´t really know how these kind of shot are made, I figure that the subject was on top of a glass and that way the crane could be located underneath him. If you know how this was done, don´t hesitate to explain it to the rest of us.
Estaba viendo MTV junto con dos amigos que también gustan de las buenas tomas, y uno de ellos dijo: “simple toma de grúa con ángulo picado” y en ese momento empezó a moverse la cámara hacia abajo hasta llegar a estar totalmente debajo de los pies de Timberlake! (ángulo contrapicado). Mi amigo tuvo que admitir que dejó de ser una simple toma de grúa. Seguramente se usó una grúa para la toma, pero no tengo la certeza de cómo se hacen esas tomas, me imagino que el artista estaba sobre un cristal y de esa manera la grúa pudo situarse debajo de él. Si tu sabes como se hizo, no dudes en explicarnos.
Starts like a regular low angle shot and then a typical pan, but then suddenly I got surprised to see the camera started to follow the subjects and then fly above them… wow! Nice piece of shot. I believe a helicam was used for this.
Comienza como una toma normal desde un ángulo inferior y luego un paneotípico, pero cuando me di cuenta la cámara ya estaba siguiendo a los personajes, y además comenzó a avanzar por encima de ellos… genial! Que toma. Creo que usaron una helicam para hacerla.
