Piece of Shot: Steadicam

I really enjoy watching nice shots, camera movements, interesting compositions mixed with special effects on movies, music videos, documentary films, tv shows, etc; and I´m sure I´m not the only one. Many of the shots posted here are definetly art ´n poetry in motion, thank you directors, producers, camera men, photographers and engineers that make them possible! If you know any info on how a shot was made (name techniques, tricks or equipment) or simply have an opinion about them, feel free to leave a comment.

Disfruto mucho ver buenas tomas, movimientos de camara, composiciones interesantes, mezcladas con efectos especiales en peliculas, videos musicales, documentales, programas de tv, etc; y estoy seguro que no soy el único. Muchas de las tomas aqui posteadas o publicadas son definitivamente arte y poesia en movimiento, gracias a los directores, productores, camarógrafos, fotografos e ingenieros que las hacen posible! Si sabes algo sobre como se hizo alguna de estas tomas (nombra tecnicas, trucos o equipo) o solamente tienes alguna opinion sobre estas, sientete con la libertad de dejar tu comentario.

The Steadicam it´s a system used to soften the involuntary movements of the cameraman. It´s a mechanism that holds the camera and also gets attached to the body of the camera operator with a harness. This technique was invented by Garret Brown in 1976. It got popular in 1980 with The Shining. This system is the most efficient among all the other camera stabilizers, like Glidecam, Flightstick, and Handyman.

Inventor Garret Brown first called it: Brown Stabilizer.

El Steadicam es un sistema usado para suavizar los movimientos involuntarios del operador de camara o camarógrafo. Es un mecanismo que sostiene la camara y que a su vez se sujeta al cuerpo del camarógrafo por medio de un arnés. Esta técnica la inventó Garret Brown en 1976. Se popularizó su uso en 1980 en la adaptación de El Resplandor. Este sistema es el mas eficiente entre los demas estabilizadores de camara, como lo son la GlideCam, Flightstick y Handyman.
